Mathoura waterways near Mathoura have an abundant supply if fish, there are regular releases of fish to ensure a constant source of fish. Mathoura has an annual Fishing competeition "The Mathoura Classic" with generous prizes, this competion attracts many entries and the revenues generated are used to restock the river fish. Fishing and camping on the banks of the rivers is extremely relaxing or you may choose to head out in your boat. The main waterways are the Murray and Edwards rivers as well as Gulpa creek.
